What is therapy? Therapy can look like many things to many different people. As a general statement, therapy is a one-on-one conversation with a trained professional to guide you through your own identified life concerns or issues.

What types of therapy does SKO Counseling offer? SKO Counseling offers several treatment modalities to our clients. Most commonly used are traditional talk therapy, EMDR, IFS, and TFT. We also pull from feminist and existential theories to support clients. Above all else, however, you'll find that SKO Counseling's primary focus in session is to ensure you, the client, feel safe, heard, seen, and respected.

Do you take insurance? SKO Counseling does accept insurance. However, there are many benefits to not utilizing your insurance plan, which we have outline on our Fees Page. These benefits include increased privacy and avoidance of stigmatizing diagnoses that insurance companies require as well as increased individualization within your treatment.

What is the cost per session? If you choose to pay out of pocket for our services, a 50-minute counseling session is currently $165. KAP sessions are $200 per hour. See our Fees Page or contact us for more information.

How do I pay for therapy? We accept all major credit cards, including HSA and FSA cards. We are also partnered with CareCredit if you need additional financial support in paying.

Do you provide therapy for minors? Yes, with parental consent.

Where do you provide therapy? Shelly O'Donnell is licensed in both Texas and Colorado. SKO Counseling is physically based out of Austin, TX and provides in-person services there. However, Shelly can provide virtual services across Texas and Colorado.

Can I request therapy for someone other than myself? If you are the parent of a minor, you may request therapy for them. If you are wanting to support an adult in obtaining our services, please have them contact us via our contact page.

How do I get started? For initial contact with a counselor, please utilize our contact page. Your message will be returned during business hours at which time we will schedule an initial phone consultation.
10.
What are your hours? Client sessions are held between 10 am and 6 pm Monday through Thursday. Counselors may be available to reach for non-emergencies on Fridays.
