What Is KAP?
KAP, or Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, is the therapeutic practice of combining ketamine with psychotherapy. The combination of medication and therapy has long been proven as an effective means of treating mental illnesses, but KAP has recently seen an insurgence of popularity due to its rapid and powerful effects.
Does insurance cover KAP treatment?
It can! Individual plans vary widely, but typically insurance plans will cover at least part of your KAP treatment. Please contact us for further inquires regarding your specific insurance plan.
What is ketamine?
Ketamine is a medication used primarily for anesthesia and pain management. Ketamine can have psychedelic effects and provide mystic experiences. It can act as "fertilizer" for your brain, providing opportunities for you to develop new neural pathways, leading to rapid changes in mentality, perception, and behaviors.
Ketamine is proven safe when taken as prescribed and in a controlled environment.
What can KAP help with?
KAP has been proven to treat PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, substance use disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, and others. KAP should not be used if you have a history of psychosis as this can exacerbate symptoms. Contact us for further information and clarification.
Do you prescribe ketamine?
SKO Counseling does not prescribe ketamine. However, we have partnered with local prescribers to ensure the highest quality of care is provided to our clients. Payment to prescribers and for ketamine prescriptions are not included in the charge for SKO Counseling KAP services.
